Lauren is a Registered Acupuncturist with the Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ACTMANS) and a graduate of the Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine program at the Autumn Institute of Health in Lower Sackville, NS, where she received the Rooted in Care award.
Before becoming an acupuncturist, Lauren worked as an exercise therapist, kinesiologist, high school science and physical education teacher, and community outreach worker. These experiences inform her eastern and western understanding of the human body and the interconnected nature of physical, mental, emotional, and environmental health and well-being.
Lauren’s treatment approach is rooted in compassion and trauma-informed care with the belief that everyone has the ability to feel good in their own body. She often takes a somatic approach, guiding patients to arrive in the treatment room just as they are and offers guided breathing with needle insertion. Other than inserting clean and sterile needles into the body, treatments may include moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tuina, acupressure, meditation and homecare around yangsheng lifestyle recommendations. She strives to create a safe, inclusive space where consent is ongoing, and patients maintain autonomy in their own care.
Lauren treats a wide range of health concerns including pain, sleep, digestion, menstrual health, and stress management. She has a special interest in mental-emotional well-being and nervous system regulation, particularly how the body holds and releases tension.
Outside the clinic, Lauren is a big nature girly – you’ll find her outside enjoying nature, regulating by the ocean or in the yoga studio moving her body in fun and intuitive ways. She is known for her compassionate presence with a touch of goofiness, bringing warmth and ease into every treatment.
